Finalist: Smithsonian Artist Research Fellowship

I am thrilled to be a finalist for Smithsonian Artist Research Fellowship in 2015. Douglas Herman, Senior Geographer at the Smithsonian Institution’s National Museum of the American Indian, nominated me so that we may collaborate on tools combining new media and indigenous knowledge, extending my research for The Beginning Was The End.

Imagining the Universe: Cosmology in Art and Science

In a LASER (Leonardo Art-Science Evening Rendezvous) devoted to Stanford Arts Institute’s year-long, cross-disciplinary project, Imagining the Universe: Cosmology in Art and Science, I’ll be presenting on the cosmology of Central Java. This project brings together scientists, artists, and humanists to explore the nature of the universe.

Living With Endangered Languages In The Information Age

New Videosculpture Work
I was invited to hold a solo show of new work on the cusp of summer next year at Mainframe Gallery in lovely Georgetown. The exhibition will include videosculpture from my new Glass System series.

Sound and video artist Kadet Kuhne and I will perform Resonant Luminance, a video and sound performance with live image streams conducted through several minimalist videosculptures, at this years Crossroads Film Festival. Very exciting.

Film maker Scott Stark and I will collaborate on a live VHS/videosculpture performance of Mutable Commute included in Other Cinema’s Texas Kick-ass Sampler. I am the honorary Texan in this line-up from Experimental Response Cinema, Artist’s Television Access’ sister salon in Austin, TX.

Film maker Scott Stark and I collaborated on Nocturnal Symmetries, a dual-16mm film performance, with a digital sound track by me, using field recordings by Bryam Abbott. It screens in New York City in November.

This Fall at Djerassi, I’ll be experimenting with projection mapped video onto objects and materials– scientific glass, vapors, liquids, crystals– to create models of multi-dimensional reality and human consciousness.

NMASS is bringing the collaborative performances I created with Scott Stark to Austin, TX in June. Nocturnal Symmetries is a dual 16mm film with digital audio using field recordings by Byram Abbott, and Treasures Of Big House is a multimedia/expanded cinema, toys-n-noise extravaganza.
